Matthew 24:14 (NKJV)
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
Today, we’re going to take a brief departure and talk about something that is on a lot of people’s minds. With all of the things happening around the world today, how does it all play into the Biblical narrative of the end days. What does it all mean?
Today, let’s talk about the things we are seeing in our world today. Let’s talk about how it relates to what the Bible says and what it means to you and me.
Matthew 24:1-14 (NKJV)
1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, “I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
1. How does the rise of ISIS play into the Biblical story?
2. What about Iran, the rise of the Russian empire yet again and N. Korea?
3. What about natural disasters?
4. What about economic uncertainty?
5. What about political turmoil and divisiveness?
6. What about refugee crisis?
7. Is there a satanic fingerprint on all of these situations?
8. What about the state of the church today?
9. Is there a falling away of the church from doctrine?
10. What does Matt 24:13 really mean in light of all of this?
11. And Matt. 24:14? That seems to be a pretty telling statement.
12. What then shall we do?
2 Timothy 3:1-7 (NKJV)
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
2 Timothy 3:13 (NKJV)
But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
